The church continued to grow! April 7th, 1911 Brother Cassius Emerson and his wife Lennie donated their property on McBrien Road to the church. After much planning and sacrifice, a one room structure, which would serve as the church and school was erected. The church school was opened immediately with Mrs. Lennie Erwin Emerson serving as the first teacher.

Although sketchy, conference records indicate the Chattanooga / East Ridge Church School was very active calling several locations home. At one time there were two church schools operating at the same time with a combined enrollment of 70 students. The church schools were also known by several names including, The East Ridge Church School, Mission Ridge Church School, Chattanooga / East Ridge church school, Chattanooga S.D.A. School and finally Chattanooga Junior Academy.

The missionary zeal of the members is noteworthy. The membership grew and it was felt that some should branch out into another section of Chattanooga. After due deliberation it was decided in 1914 that the Highland Park Baptist Church property would be purchased. The small frame church was located on the southwest corner of Beech Street near Duncan Avenue According to F. H. Allen, the property was purchased for $700.00 including the organ, seats and other fixtures.
